Spanning over 700 acres, the ancient Native American site provides a vivid glimpse into the Woodland Period, showcasing the cultural and spiritual depth of its inhabitants. Dominating the landscape is a vast earthen burial mound, measuring over 150 feet long and 36 feet wide, a solemn tribute to the departed, paired with a ceremonial stone platform that guards the valley’s main mountain pass.
Thirteen stone mound burials, situated near a black flint quarry site, are surrounded by piles of flint flakes, discarded tools, and weapon points.
