Bear Spirit is a 501 (c) 3, Non-Profit group that independently dedicates our time and personal resources to locate, record and share with the world these incredible American Indian sacred sites.
Our Team Members are passionate about these sacred lands. They honor the Ancestors by helping to preserve and protect the land they love. And keeping their legacy alive by learning who they were, as well as how they lived and perished.
Most Members started as a volunteer. They “feel and see” how the Ancestors walked these lands and became “hooked!”

I really started this journey because my son likes to collect fossils and enjoys the outdoors. Matt encouraged me to bring my son Jacob to Bear Spirit Mountain, I watched in awe as he showed him all the fascinating archeological finds. I didn't realize how much I would fall in love with being a part of the team. The team consists of a wide mix of ages and backgrounds with the same passion... Protecting what we love and share our experiences with others.
I always liked learning about history and science. I've been collecting fossils since I was a kid. I love finding arrowheads, native tools, and artifacts. I get pictures of things I find to show my friends. I know I want to be an archeologist when I grow up, this is all I think about and can't wait to go on another adventure (that's what my mom calls it.) Matt is a great teacher. He is really cool and easy to learn from. I love Bear Spirit Mountain and I bet you will too!
