Petroglyphs

Fall into two categories.

Petroglyphs – The outline, or “outer edge” of the body or shape of the petroglyph is carved into the body of the rock. This is usually followed by the addition of features such as eyes, nostrils, ears, etc.

Pecked Petroglyph – The image the person is trying to create is achieved by chiseling or “pecking” hundreds of individual pecked lines to form the shape or body. You will not see detailed representations of features such as eyes and nostrils, as a result of this style of rock art. This type of petroglyph is much rarer.
