Maasaw, meaning “protector of sacred lands,” is a renowned expert in identifying American Indian and African American burial grounds and cemetery sites.  To date, he has discovered over 40 sites, from Canada to Virginia, and is the author of two highly respected books on Native Americans.  A sought-after speaker at archaeological conventions globally, Maasaw also currently shares his expertise at Shepherd University by teaching a Life-long Learning course covering American Indian Burial Practices.
