Cool Spring Farm

A recent aerial drone survey revealed the presence of a long-forgotten American Indian village site, nestled within a landscape rich in history and natural beauty. From the sky, subtle patterns in the terrain—once invisible from the ground—came into view, outlining the footprint of an ancient community that thrived here for over 8,000 years. Not far from the village site, a ceremonial area was also identified, suggesting this was more than a place of daily life—it was a sacred gathering place for spiritual practices and cultural traditions.

What first drew Indigenous people to this land also attracted the later arrival of settlers like the Morgan family: abundant fresh water, fertile soil, and thriving wildlife. This convergence of natural resources made the area an ideal place for settlement across generations. The discovery not only deepens our understanding of the region’s deep Indigenous history but also highlights the enduring relationship between people and the land they called home.
