Shenandoah Valley

Perched high atop a mountain overlooking the winding Shenandoah River, the ancient Native American site in the Shenandoah Valley stands as a testament to the spiritual and cultural depth of its Woodland Period inhabitants, dating back approximately 1,500 years. The site, once home to hundreds of stone mound burials and ceremonial structures, is decorated with remarkable rock art artifacts, including intricately carved animal effigies that reflect the artistry and reverence of the people who created them.

The most awe-inspiring feature of this sacred ground is the sheer scale of the surviving burial and ceremonial mounds, some stacked as high as seven feet, a rarity that speaks to the monumental efforts of their builders. Many of these mounds remain in excellent condition, their towering presence commanding the landscape and offering a profound connection to the ancestors who shaped this site in harmony with the river below and their Creator above.
