Potomac River Cliff
Perched on natural cliff bluffs overlooking the Potomac River, the Potomac River Cliff site serves as a poignant reminder of ancient Native American heritage.
Discovered by the Bear Spirit Mountain Team, this sacred site once held five burial mounds, each honoring the ancestors of Indigenous peoples who cherished this land. Sadly, all five mounds have been heavily desecrated over time, their sanctity disrupted by historical plunder, leaving only traces of their spiritual and cultural importance. The cliffs, standing watch over the river, continue to echo the enduring legacy of those who lived in harmony with the Potomac’s timeless flow.
