Concentric Circles
Concentric Circles – Also called “spirals” in Europe, concentric circles are spiritual in nature and are used as “portals” for the Ancestors to join our world and return to theirs.
Similar to “niche stones” and “split stones.” The main difference is that concentric circles are often found to be alone and not part of a ceremonial or burial site. They are sometimes strategically placed by a Medicine Man/Woman close by to a foot path highway that members of the tribe would use on long journeys. Giving them a place to stop off and say prayers and leave tribute to the Creator for safe traveling. Sort of a “roadside church” site.
Another variation of a concentric circle is called a “medicine wheel.” Typically found in the western part of the US & Canada. Whereas a concentric circle has a spiraling effect, a medicine wheel has something like a wheels “spokes.” Both are sacred sites and have been used by Indigenous people in North America for many millennia.
